Slowing down

There is not much to do in the village of Salleri. Many people live a simple existence and they are more than happy with it. I, as an outsider, Have to adjust dramatically to all of this.
Europeans always need something to do. And they do that in a very fast pace. A day in solukhumbu consists of eating, walking, sitting and talking. Most of the people make food or trade items for a living. Accepting that my day only consists of teaching english and walking alot made it so that my pace also slowed down. It still feels weird, like you are riding a scooter with a maximum speed of 25km/h because your tuned up motorcycle broke down. But because i'm driving so slow I can finally see beside me and admire the road.

My first day in the monastery has come to an end and it was really amazing. It looks really beautiful inside and with the monks chanting their prayers it really feels like a spiritual place of peace. Teaching english to the monks is a real challenge though. In the same class you will see monks between the age of 6 and 55. All with a different level of the english language. It also helps that there are no textbooks and you will just have to improvise.
